The way Jaspers looks at it, all of us are always in a situation. Perhaps life is one damn situation after another. Some situations are designated as 'boundary situations': death, suffering, struggle, guilt, chance.
It's around sixty years since I first heard of existentialism when I listened to a series of perhaps three talks on the ABC and wrote and asked for a transcript. Then I bought H.J. Blackham's Six Existentialist Thinkers . It's now in old age that I have the leisure to see what it's value might still be. I'm trying to write some fiction to explore it, wonder about the connection between the PTMF and existentialist philosophy, and read existentialist philosophers and relevant fiction.
I was interested that the word 'laceration' is used by Dostoevsky quite prominently in 'The Brothers Karamazov'. I chose it for my new blog to use it metaphorically. Although 'bandaids' fits its literal meaning, it may also be a useful metaphor.
It has been a long time since I felt like blogging. Maybe it is time to begin again. Updating this miniscule post on January 12, 2022. So, it turned out it wasn't the time to return to blogging. I need to think some more about what to write about before proceeding.
